The Wanderment Team

John Flaherty

Founder & Head Brewer

John began his love of craft beer and home brewing over a decade ago living in Orlando, FL. At the time there was very little in terms of craft beer but once he tried his first well crafted IPA from a little brewery at the time called Cigar City, John never looked back at macro beer. After finding it difficult and expensive to discover many new styles John sought out the next best thing, to make his own home brew and has loved it ever since.

In 2013, John and his wife Melanie visited Denver, Colorado for the Great American Beer Festival. After enjoying themselves way too much they realized Denver was the place to be surrounded by craft beer so they packed up and moved to the heart of the city in early 2014. After that John pushed himself to continue learning more diverse and difficult styles of beer to brew.

For John’s 30th birthday in 2016 his wife and him visited Vermont and Maine breweries, everything changed for him again. The beers he drank there were so well rounded, soft, and flavorful that like a light bulb going off in his head, John realized this was what he wanted to pursue.

Since then John has maintained his full time job to pay his bills while volunteering and working part time at various breweries to gain the knowledge and skills to brew commercially.

In 2021 John founded Wanderment Brewing with the goal to make beers inspired from nature, travels, and friends he’s made along the way with a focus on Rustic Ales. He is Founder, Head Brewer, and Visionary of Wanderment Brewing.

Sam Odom

Co-founder & Brewer

Sam rediscovered his love of beer upon moving to Denver in the summer of 2015. Since then, he has frequented Denver's favorite beer bars and restaurants like Hops & Pie, Fire On The Mountain, Freshcraft, Crafty Fox and Falling Rock, trying as many beers as possible to develop an appreciation for a wide variety of styles -- he is just a sucker for amazing beers like a dank and juicy IPA, a complex-but-balanced mixed culture ale and a delicious Czech lager. All the while, he's been learning about the beer industry and soaking up the culture of its passionate community; he also enjoys traveling to explore the ever-changing world of beer to maintain as much perspective as possible.

Back in October of 2018, Sam had the good fortune to brew his first batch of beer with John, a former colleague in the tech industry.  He was immediately enamored with the craft itself and developed a simpatico relationship with John. It didn't take long before he wanted to be a part of helping make a reality John's dream of building a destination brewery. They've been making beer together as a passion project ever since and now embark upon a much-anticipated journey to establish a world-class, high-standards brewery in the coming years.
